Pranjal Goswami

Impact: Pranjal was introduced to the Mifos community in 2016 and quickly proved himself to be one of our most gifted and talented community members. He mentored two students for Google Summer of Code, shared his expertise and graphic design skills to assist in the refactoring and re-skinning our web application, and mentored Adhyan in the building out of a notifications framework for the web application.

Additionally, Pranjal was selected to attend the 2016 Google Summer of Code Mentor Summit along with Gaurav. We’ve kept Pranjal busy with a multitude of projects and he has excelled in everything we ask of him.

Pranjal is currently employed as Head of Product for tnpsuite.com, which we ideated during graduation to streamline the process of campus placement drives in India. He has been a full stack developer for over three years now and worked on big scale web applications built on Angular JS.

Pranjal never saw himself as a software engineer. He has worked in a variety of fields ranging from graphic design to investment banking. Gratefully, he wound up with us. His desire to learn and succeed is what makes him such a great contributor to the Mifos community.

Well, I am very new to the community, so I don’t have any advice to share. However, to the new contributors, I would say — communicate more and ask for help, don’t try to battle problems alone. Sometimes, since we are all working remotely, you might feel lonely working on something. It is good to harness the benefits of technology to connect to people.

I hope to contribute to the best of my abilities in all efforts made to uplift the lives of the underprivileged. It is the aim of my life that I want to make a positive impact on the lives of other people. I make sure I reach there in every step that I take.

From Pranjal: My contributions so far have been minuscule. I have helped GSOC students build an actionable notification system and revamp the web app UX.

From Ed: Pranjal in fact was a very hands-on mentor, helping guide two complex projects including coming up with the design for the re-skin. Both of these projects that Pranjal mentored will soon be shipped to the community.

“The single most rewarding thing is the magnitude of impact that your work at Mifos creates. Every contribution you make is touching so many lives. It gives you satisfaction to be a part of a noble cause.”
