Michael brings to the Mifos board
his Java and core banking expertise along with leadership in guiding upstream development in open source communities as a decade-long volunteer to the Mifos Initiative and the lead maintainer of the Apache Fineract platform. He advises on maintaining a healthy contribution model for the community and guiding the technical vision.
Michael has held the roles of Chief Architect, Team Lead, or Head of Engineering in primarily Java-based enterprise software solutions at companies including Temenos, Red Hat, and currently Google. A recognized Java/J2EE/JDO expert, he co-authored the J2EE book "Core Java Data Objects".
Mifos intersects many sectors – financial inclusion, open source technology, fintech, and cloud computing. We are lucky to call upon the visionary thinking, critical insight, industry expertise of a team of business and technical advisors who help us stay at the forefront of them all.
Shashi brings 18+ years of payments and financial services background in developing and developed markets to Mifos. His work has encompassed a range of payment domains including remittances, disbursements, mobile money and card-based payments. He is passionate about digital rails that drives social change and working across both public and private sector to deliver impact.
Allison Baller serves as Vice President and Head of Industry Readiness for the FedNow Service, a near real-time payment and settlement service under development by the Federal Reserve Banks to support instant payments in the United States.
Marie is a leader in inclusive fintech possessing an immense body of practical knowledge in helping organizations achieve operational excellence and maximize social performance from their technology investments. Marie has more than 25 years of experience in advising, designing, and implementing holistic solutions for businesses and non-profits in the US, Asia, and Africa. She helps ensure we have a holistic approach to delivering and supporting our open source platform and advises on sustainability of our initiative and fintechs in our ecosystem.
Zaheda Bhorat is the head of open source strategy at AWS, where she also leads the open source program office. A computer scientist, Zaheda is a long-time active contributor to open source and open standards communities. She advises Mifos on open source, community development and organisational change.
Deepa Prahalad is an author and innovation consultant. She has worked with start-ups and large multinationals, and co-authored the book, Predictable Magic: Unleash The Power of Design Strategy To Transform Your Business, which was selected by Fast Company as one of the “Best Design Books of the Year”.
Ali Hussein Kassim
Ali is a true visionary in the fintech world and will use his expertise and critical insight into the sector will help shape the ongoing product and community development strategy and advance our sustainability endeavors. Ali wears many hats across the African fintech landscape and will help our ecosystem grow and establish a stronger foothold for Mifos across the African fintech market.
