Sanyam Goel – New Delhi, India
Brief Bio (in the words of Sanyam):
I’m a final year undergraduate student at Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Engineering, New Delhi, India and going to graduate in June 2018. I’m an open source developer and would love to work on projects which can be used easily and create a direct impact on people’s lives.
I discovered Mifos from Google Summer of Code 2017, when the list of organisations came out which matches my skill set and work on projects that will create a direct impact on people’s life by fighting poverty. The motive of Mifos “End Poverty One Line of Code at a Time” always motivates me to contribute to Mifos.
Contributions Made to Date:
I have implemented the dynamic documentation of Fineract using Swagger which can easily be consumed by any FrontEnd developer like Android developer or Web developer and makes the documentation more readable.
I mentored tasks related to coding, research and documentation with Mifos Initiative in Google Code In 2017.
Currently I’m working on improving the Swagger Documentation and also working on solving current bugs in backend Project of Fineract and planning to work on Mojaloop integration on Apache Fineract.
Impact on the Poor:
I hope to contribute to the best of my abilities to fight against poverty and to contribute to organisations like Mifos which aims to fight poverty and makes a positive impact on lives of other people.
What’s Rewarding about Working on Mifos:
It’s a great experience in working with Mifos Initiative and interacting with Mifos community which is always eager to help each other. Furthermore, the opportunity to have hands-on experience on a Fintech backend application and solving problems together gave me the opportunity to learn a lot in the whole process.
Top Piece of Advice for Others in the Mifos Community:
Mifos is a great organization so my advice to the new contributors would be that they should not hesitate in asking questions and should be engaged with others in the community and if they are planning to work on any project then they should discuss their approach with the community members or if they are working on some innovative Ideas or planning to do some major changes in the current code base then they should also propose their ideas on the mailing list of the Mifos or Apache Fineract Mailing List to find out the best feasible approach for their members and give their best to optimize the code or by proposing the innovative approach or suggestions.
