The Mifos Initiative is excited to announce that we have been selected as one of the finalists for the 2018 Financial Innovation Awards! After entering in the Best Financial Inclusion or Outreach Initiative category, we will be up against great organizations like Azuri Technologies, HSBC, the UAE Exchange, Principality Building Society, and X–Forces Enterprise CIC & NatWest for the top spot! The winner will be announced on Thursday, December 6th.
The Financial Innovation Awards, led by the London Institute of Banking and Finance, are aimed to celebrate and recognize those who advance banking and finance by providing outstanding education and thinking and tailor to the needs of business, individuals, and society. So that being said, we could not be more excited to be short-listed for such a fantastic program!
The specific award that Mifos is up for, Best Financial Inclusion or Outreach Initiative, recognizes organisations that have achieved measurable success in supporting vulnerable customers or empowering communities and individuals through financial inclusion, education and outreach initiatives. With the level of financial exclusion and lack of basic financial services around the world remaining stubbornly high, this award seeks to celebrate those who work to reverse the devastating impact financial exclusion can have on people’s lives.
We think we stand out in this award category due to our commitment to financial inclusion. Starting with the story of Marie-Claire Ayurwanda, who used a tiny loan to build herself a home and start a second business to employ members of her community, Mifos has always had financial inclusion at its forefront. With millions of lives changed so far due to Mifos, we have no intentions of stopping anytime soon! We aim to create a world of 3 Billion Maries, where everyone has access to financial services! That’s why we aim to make our Mifos X software the best version possible so that we can provide the most effective financial service platform to as many people as possible.
