Mifos 2.6.1 is the first hotfix on the Esha K release, the final major release of the Mifos 2.x codebase.  SolDevelo fixed nearly 40 bugs in the release and also provide some new enhancements including advanced search options, linking guarantors to clients, sorting fields, and a new type of GLIM loan. This release also contains a number of enhancements to the Mifos-ACC accounting module built by Hugo Technologies.  This is the first official release of the brand new Mifos X platform, the next generation of our Mifos software which has been completely re-architected and re-written from the ground-up. Mifos X is designed as a true platform containing all the back-end services for financial inclusion fully exposed through a RESTful API allowing others to rapidly build new applications to serve the poor. This clean layered, multi-tenant architecture is lightweight, modular, and ready for the cloud providing the extensibility and scalability for our community to grow.

  • Specialists and Developers seeking a stable release of the platform to begin developing new applications through the API
  • Larger MFIs previewing the functionality and architecture of the new codebase

This release contains all the platform functionality and APIs to support individual lending. It ships with a simple reference user interface to demonstrate these APIs. In September 2013 we'll launch the revamped user interface on top of Mifos X that will surpass  the functionality and user experience found on our legacy Mifos 2.x codebase. 

Some of the enhancements to Mifos X in this release include, see the release notes for full details:

  • Client Management: We’ve made client management much more robust with the ability to upload documents and track identity documents.
  • Portfolio Management: Loan product creation is even more flexible as you can now dynamically see the loan products you create on the fly.
  • Accounting: We’ve put in an integrated cash-based accounting module with automated portfolio tracking as well as the ability to manually input non-portfolio journal vouchers.
  • User Management: You’ll find the same granular-based permissioning module but now with the maker-checker workflow concept so you can ensure better data integrity.
  • Reporting: We continue to use Pentaho as our reporting engine but have also added another layer of lightweight screen-based reports for a total of 30 reports including standard financial reports.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE: For installing or upgrading to Mifos 2.6.1 and subsequent releases, Jetty 7.3 has replaced Tomcat as the Web Application Container. Please see upgrade instructions to learn more. Mifos 2.6.0 (Released December 21, 2012 - Final major Mifos 2.x release)

Mifos 2.6 (Esha K) is the fourth major community-supported release led by SolDevelo. It includes several new features: dashboard on home page, COA interface, support for daily meetings and possibility to add attachments to clients and loans. It also contains a number of critical bug fixes.

Mifos 2.5.0 (Released September 12, 2012)

Mifos 2.5 (Samiha J) is the third major community-supported release led by SolDevelo. It includes several new features: receipt generate/print functionality, ability to configure payment order, integrated Pentaho DW reports, account import functionality and Simple Accounting module. It also includes a number of critical fixes.

Mifos 2.4.1 (Released July 5, 2012)

Mifos 2.4.1 is the first maintenance release of Mifos 2.4. It includes 24 resolved tickets providing many major bug fixes:

  • Added possibility to remove fee which is not related to any Loan Account
  • Single-item dropdowns are selected by default to the lone value

Mifos 2.4.0 (Released June 15, 2012)

Mifos 2.4 (Vinolia I) is the second major community-supported release led by SolDevelo. It includes several new features: funds transfer from one account to another, integration with Kopo Kopo, integrated Pentaho reports, GLIM enhancements, and value based permissions. It also includes a number of critical fixes.

Mifos 2.3.3 (Released May 7, 2012)

Mifos 2.3.3 is a third hotfix release that includes critical fixes of the following issues:

  • Mifos freezes after running BIRT report
  • Unable to create Loan Account with Declining Balance-Interest Recalculation and Frequency of Installments: 1 Month(s) when Loan has only one installment
  • UI pages and dropdowns are using system locale (from config) instead of user preferred language

Mifos 2.3.2 (Released April 13, 2012)

Mifos 2.3.2 is the second maintenance release of Mifos 2.3 that contains major bug fixes, enhancements to Loan Disbursement functionality and Declining Balance interest types:

  • Added Prorate option which allows to avoid the revenue loss when Loan Disbursement is done well before the meeting date
  • Added Principal Pre-payment option for Loans with "Declining Balance" and "Declining Balance - Equal Principal Installment" interest types

Mifos 2.3.1 (Released April 3, 2012)

Mifos 2.3.1 is the first maintenance release of Mifos 2.3. It includes 40 resolved tickets providing many bug fixes, historical transactions enhancements, and new way of displaying GL Codes in UI:

  • Added possibility to input savings data for previous 2-3 months
  • GL Codes can be displayed with GL Names

Mifos 2.3 (Released March 16, 2012)

Mifos 2.3 (Margaret H) is the first major community-supported release led by SolDevelo. In response to direct feedback from users across the community it includes automated late penalties, GLIM enhancements, UI improvements, dynamic per-user language support, and a mobile-optimized interface. It also includes a number of features sponsored by Al Majmoua in Lebanon as well as community-driven translations for Georgian and Lao.

  • Added new REST API Approval page to accept/reject incoming requests (writing transactions to Mifos)

Additional Enhancements in Mifos 2.2.2 (Released November 30, 2011)

Mifos 2.2.2 builds off of Mifos 2.2.1, the first community-supported release of Mifos led by SolDevelo, providing a number of bug fixes, community-requested features, and additional APIs:
  • New Mifos translation: German
  • Allow question groups to be attached to Close Loan/Savings account
  • Complete REST API module for all read/view functionality.
  • More than 20 fixes and enhancements including improvements to the UI

Additional Enhancements in Mifos 2.2.1

Mifos 2.2.1, the first community-supported release of Mifos, led by SolDevelo, stablizes the Mifos 2.2 release candidate and builds on top of it with the following functional and architectural enhancements:
  • Simplified procedure of adding new translations
  • New Mifos translation: Telugu
  • Added ability to edit user's birth date and center names
  • Implemented client photo upload functionality
  • Added new REST API module for better Mifos integrations
