Silky Vyas – Rajasthan, India

Brief Bio:

I am an AI Developer and Open Source Contributor specializing in Large Language Models, backend systems, and intelligent automation. As a Google Summer of Code 2026 Contributor with the Mifos Initiative, I designed and built an AI-powered platform that transforms complex loan agreements into clear, structured insights, making financial documents more accessible and understandable. I enjoy building scalable, production-ready software, contributing to open-source ecosystems, and collaborating with global communities to develop technology that creates meaningful real-world impact.

Relevant Skills/OS Experience:

My open-source journey has been driven by a passion for building intelligent, impactful software. As a Google Summer of Code 2026 Contributor with the Mifos Initiative, I designed and developed an AI-powered Loan Agreement Summarization platform using Python, FastAPI, React, LangChain, Large Language Models (LLMs), Prompt Engineering, NLP, and REST APIs. Collaborating with experienced mentors and community members strengthened my skills in scalable backend development, AI system design, software architecture, code reviews, testing, and technical documentation. Contributing to a global open-source community has not only sharpened my technical expertise but also reinforced my commitment to creating accessible, real-world AI solutions that empower users and promote financial inclusion.

My Impact:

How I discovered Mifos:

My journey with Mifos began in 2025 when I was researching organizations for Google Summer of Code 2026. Among the many open-source organizations, Mifos stood out because of its mission to improve financial inclusion through technology. I spent time exploring the community, its projects, and its impact, which motivated me to apply as a GSoC contributor. Being selected gave me the opportunity to build an AI-powered Loan Agreement Summarization platform, collaborate with experienced mentors, and experience firsthand the culture of collaboration, learning, and innovation that defines the Mifos community.

Contributions I’ve made thus far:

My contributions to Mifos have centered on the Community AI project, where I developed an AI-powered Loan Agreement Summarization platform using Python, FastAPI, React, LangChain, and Large Language Models (LLMs). I also contributed to evaluating multilingual Text-to-Speech (TTS) and Speech-to-Text (STT) capabilities to enhance AI accessibility within the ecosystem. Working closely with mentors and contributors, I participated in technical discussions, code reviews, testing, and documentation while building scalable open-source solutions that support Mifos’ mission of financial inclusion.

Project I’m currently working on or planning to:

I am currently working on my Google Summer of Code 2026 project, the AI-powered Loan Agreement Summarization platform, as part of the Mifos Community AI initiative. My focus is on enhancing it with advanced LLM capabilities, multilingual support, intelligent document analysis, and improved accessibility features. Beyond this, I look forward to contributing to new AI-driven initiatives that strengthen the Mifos ecosystem and further its mission of advancing financial inclusion through open-source innovation.

Impact I have had (or hope to have) on the poor:

Through my contributions to the Mifos Community AI initiative, I aspire to strengthen financial inclusion by making complex financial information easier to understand and more accessible. My goal is to use AI to simplify loan agreements, improve multilingual accessibility, and empower underserved communities with the knowledge they need to make informed financial decisions. Contributing to technology that can positively impact millions of lives is the kind of purpose-driven work that motivates me to keep building and contributing to the Mifos ecosystem.

What’s rewarding about working on the Mifos Project:

What I find most rewarding about working on Mifos is the opportunity to contribute to technology that creates a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Every contribution goes beyond writing code, it supports open-source solutions that advance financial inclusion for underserved communities around the world. I also value being part of a collaborative and welcoming community where mentors and contributors continuously share knowledge, encourage innovation, and inspire one another. Contributing to Mifos has been an enriching experience that has helped me grow both technically and personally while building software with a real social purpose.

Advice to the Mifos Community:

Approach every challenge with curiosity and every piece of feedback as an opportunity to grow. The Mifos community is incredibly supportive, and the more you engage, collaborate, and contribute, the more rewarding your open-source journey will become. Every contribution, no matter how small, has the potential to create meaningful impact.
