Instructions to Build and Install Mifos from Source

Do you need to install Mifos on your machine?

Mifos is a web-based client server application.  This means a data entry user does not have to install anything except a web browser (like Internet Explorer) in order to use Mifos.

If you want to just use Mifos 1.0 and see what it looks like, use the demonstration server or view a demo.

The instructions below tell you how to get the latest source code under development.  This code is not guaranteed to be stable.

If you are interested in learning what the full deployment process is for a microfinance organization, see our Knowledge Center.

Installing Mifos

  1. First download the code with subversion
  2. Follow this README file that accompanies the source code in SVN. This file contains instructions for building and installing Mifos.

Here are a few additional notes which might be helpful after having gone through the instructions:

  1. Helpful tips to Install on Windows
  2. Linux Install Guide
  3. Using Eclipse Notes
  4. Developer machine configurations - a list of configurations used by developers to successfully build/install Mifos (so you can tell if others have Mifos running successfully on a configuration similar to yours)

Problems?  Search this site, or check out the listserv archives.  If you cannot find a solution on this site or in the listserv archives, email the developer listserv with questions.
