What is a Mifos Specialist?
A Mifos Specialist is a technology consulting firm that provides technical support and consultation during the implementation of Mifos and for ongoing use.
What does a Mifos Specialist Do?
The Mifos Specialist fills three fundamental roles:
Technical Project Management for Deployment
- Roll-out planning
- Data entry/migration
- Infrastructure planning & set-up (server set-up, other hardware, connectivity etc)
- Reports writing
- User training

How does a company become a Mifos Specialist?
Currently there is no formal Mifos Specialist program. Those firms with the skillset and knowledge to provide the three roles detailed above are capable of serving as Mifos Specialists. Once your firm has gained an in-depth understanding of the Mifos software and what coordinating a Mifos deployment entails, you can seek out MFIs looking to deploy Mifos.

A central part of Mifos is the sharing of knowledge across the entire community; utilize this section and the rest of the Knowledge Center to access all the tools and resources to support your business:

Mifos is community driven and we highly encourage knowledge sharing. We ask that Mifos Specialist actively contribute to the community by sharing experience and knowledge learned while deploying Mifos.
How does a Mifos Specialist find business?
The Mifos Specialist is responsible for building its own customer base. Mifos.org contains several tools and resources to assist you. With demand for Mifos steadily on the rise, we’ve built the Community Directory as a tool for seeking out MFIs.Is there a Mifos license agreement?
Mifos is an open source software platform and is governed by the Apache 2.0 license which can be found on the Apache website, www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0.
The software and code are freely available and require no formal signed agreement.
