Help other MFIs easily spin Mifos up in the Amazon EC2 cloud by documenting the procedure for installing and configuring an instance of Mifos in Amazon's web service offering Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2). With a documented procedure to follow, we could ensure a simple and repeatable process is available for new developers or customers.
Up to date user documentation is essential to MFIs around the world effectively using the Mifos software. Mifos 2.0 contains a great deal of new functionality including Question Groups, PPI Support, m-pesa integration, Tally integration, improved batch jobs management, and more. Our User Manual built on FLOSS Manuals is only up to date as of Mifos 1.5. We're seeking talented tech writers to update our documentation.
Currently, some of the text you see in Mifos are "strung" together with different strings. This makes translating Mifos very hard since not all languages are like English in grammar. We need to update this by replacing these phrases with one string so that they can be translated better.
Goldman Sachs CTW team completed initial work in summer. Still strings remaining to be cleaned up.
One of our Mifos Consortium customers and a young, emerging MFI in Kenya, KEEF (Kenya Entrepreneurship Empowerment Foundation), would like to see these bugs and enhancements fixed in Mifos. They're currently using Mifos in production and piloting an integration between Mifos and the m-pesa mobile money platform. By integrating their back-office system, KEEF will be able to more rapidly expand its mobile money services, providing its clients with new, more affordable and secure products to meet their needs. Browse through their full list of bugs and click the link below to learn how to contribute.
One of our top customers, enda inter-arabe, would like to see these bugs and enhancements fixed in Mifos. These would save a lot of time and effort as they aim to serve more clients in Tunisia. enda is currently serving more 135,000 clients. Browse the full list of bugs and click the link below for how to contribute.
The method used by Mifos to provide locale-specific content is difficult to maintain and not customizable per-user. We seek to simplify the Mifos code by improving the locale configuration and runtime localization code. Volunteer would come up with a rough plan to incrementally fix MIFOS-2018 and allow per-user locales.
Help the Mifos team configure our build server to make a movie of test runs. Currently we use Selenium RC to do automated acceptance tests on Mifos builds on our continuous integration server. Currently when errors happen, the stack trace doesn't provide enough information on why the errors are occurring. A screen capture of recording the acceptance test runs would help provide that information.
